Global Community Connect, with the support and approval of the Church Council, has been successful in securing £434,900 from Community Builders to develop the church hall into a community hub. The Company will take a long lease from the Church and the Church, in turn, will have protected time and space in the building e.g. Sunday and two evenings a week. Having paid off its mortgage, the Church will rent additioanl space/time for other events and activities. Global Community Connect is a new company, set up by the Church in 2009, to develop the site at Sherwood Drive and take forward the community work of the church. The company will provide high quality services and facilities to contribute towards the social, educational and health needs of people in the area. This area has been, and continues to be, an area requiring regeneration funds to support economic, social and community development. GCC is an independent company with charitable status. The company has seven Directors - all of them local people with an exemplary track record of serving the community. Some are representatives of local groups but collectively they make the spending, staffing and other decisions around the priorities of the company. The new community hub will be multi-purpose and inclusive and will target all sections of the community. It will be a new resource that will provide high-level activity instruction, local social opportunity, and citizen services in a convenient location. Other service categories include:
